Redefining The Hype Girl
If you are picturing a sidekick, jumping around, pumping up the crowd right before you take the stage, waving your book in the air.
Think again.
A hype girl isn’t about being the loudest person in the room or electrifying the crowd before a concert.
It is the message that once you are here, you are in my circle. I have your back. I show up for you with the reminder that yes, you can do this hard thing.
You are not alone.
If you ever forget, I’ll give you a nudge and shine a light on your brilliance. No hiding it under a bush.
I am the person who says:
We are not quitting today.
You showed up. That matters.
Writing is hard.
It is worth it.
Yes, you can do it.
You are allowed to make mistakes and not have all the answers. You are allowed to care about your story, even if you aren’t sure what to put on the page.
I am the Hype Girl who believes in you, especially when you stop believing in yourself.
Time to Listen Up
You do not have to be a good writer to be a good storyteller.
Please don’t make me repeat myself.
Storytelling comes from the moments and memories and questions that make us human. Not from having the most beautiful words on the page.
In this space, you are not allowed to stop because you don’t think you are a “good writer”. Those skills can be improved with time and practice, and there are people who help with sentence structure and grammar. Perfect pages are not required to start.
All you need is a story kernel, curiosity, and grit.
Did I mention writing is hard?
My promise as a book coach:
I wish I could promise a six-figure publishing deal, with movie writes, and international fame.
But I can’t. That would be sneaky, and we have already established I will always tell the truth, no asshole vibes. I will always tell you need to hear, even if it isn’t what you want to hear.
Remember when I said writing is hard? I promise to be with you every step of the way and stop you from quitting when the frustration starts to weigh you down.
I promise to show up for you, so you can show up for your story.
I promise to be the hype girl by your side, all the way to the end.
